 "When you read

there should be a little voice in your head like a storyteller is saying it.....

if it's not there, then you're just lookin' at the words"

LaKeisha

Reading Apprenticeship p.XV

This reading workshop is designed to help you expand your reading strengths and develop your reading weaknesses.  You will be discovering what makes you a reader, how you read, and how you  can become a master reader in every area of your life beyond the classroom.  You will be interning with each other, as well as with myself, as you investigate what good readers do as they interact with words in print.

Connecting the Known: What is in your head to what is there waiting for discovery in the world of text

Making Predictions: Based on partial information connected to your prior knowledge

Communicating Your Connections: Making your thoughts public as an apprentice within the classroom in order

to benefit from each other's difficulties and insights

Master Reader Role: Reasoning your way through the toughest and most obscure of texts in order

to become competent and confident readers
